Cyprus
This eastern Mediterranean island is rich in natural beauty, has a wide variety of rare endemic species both in flora and fauna, magnificent ancient sites, as well as a healthy climate. The traditional hospitality of the inhabitants and a high level of services all make it attractive to the visitor. It is a land whose history and culture goes back 9.000 years so there is something for everyone - Neolithic settlements, ancient burial chambers, Greco-Roman temples and amphitheatres, Roman villas with mosaic floors, old Christian basilicas, Byzantine churches and monasteries with beautiful wall-paintings, mediaeval castles, Islamic monuments, to name but a few.
The tourist industry began to grow in Cyprus in 1960 with Independence. Cyprus has since become one of the main tourist centres of the Mediterranean with tourism as the mainstay of the island's economy. In 2008, 2,1 million tourists visited the free part of the Republic of Cyprus. Most tourists come from Europe (95%), the majority from the UK. Other important tourist markets for Cyprus are the Scandinavian countries, Germany, Russia and the countries of former USSR, Switzerland, Greece and Holland. Cyprus offers visitors an opportunity for fun and relaxation, events organised throughout the year, as well as a chance to get to know its culture and taste its traditionally warm hospitality. There are plenty of sports activities as well within easy travelling distance.
Cyprus is the new jewel in the crown for golfers seeking golfing breaks in the warmth of the eastern Mediterranean. It offers golfers challenging world class championship courses, safety, warm hospitality and almost year round sunshine. As one of the most scenic places in the world, Cyprus golf courses are full of breath taking holes which will make for times never forgotten.

Tesefanou Golf Course and Country Club Hotel
In addition to the other golf courses on Cyprus, a new golf course is planned at Tesefanou Village, Larnaca.
Scheduled for completion in 2012, this golf course is expected to be a PGA approved and will include a hotel with spa and fitness facilities. Since the announcement of the golf course, many properties have been built around Tesefanou and surrounding villages, such as Kiti, Pervolia, Mazotos, Agios Theodoros, and Maroni which are all seeing an advance of building to meet the demand.
Cyprus enjoys a remarkably low crime rate,1/6 of the European average, another reason for being popular among foreign buyers for whom security has become a key element in the property world. Visitors are invariably surprised and reassured by this relaxed aspect of life on the island, for crime is virtually unheard of, and theft is not commonplace.
The relatively low cost of living in Cyprus has an added appeal for the potential buyer, offering a full, but comparatively inexpensive lifestyle. Recent statistics pointed to Cyprus as one of the most inexpensive countries in Europe. The local markets flaunt a wealth of colourful fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, and Cyprus' modern supermarkets are fully stocked with a large range of local and imported goods
